Cyan's Z-Series supports flexible wave division multiplexing (DWDM and CWDM) transport with OEO or full OOO wavelength grooming using colorless, non-directional optics in combination with wavelength selectable switching (WSS) based ROADMs to optimize capital and operational efficiency.

The ability to modularly equip DWDM and ROADM functionality as an incremental feature enables wavelength services to be added without the cost or complexity of introducing additional dedicated equipment just for the purpose of managing multiple wavelengths.

As a result, Z-Series platforms may be initially deployed as DWDM/ROADM platforms or deploy as a SONET/SDH MSPP or Ethernet aggregation and transport switch with additional optical capacity and functionality added when and where needed.

The result is a cost-effective scalable network, with fewer devices to interconnect, maintain and manage for improved profitability.
