Cyan Z77
Cyan Z77 Packet-Optical Transport Platform
The Cyan Z77 packet-optical transport platform is the industry's first purpose built packet optical transport system and sets the benchmark for metro and regional scalability. Transporting services in live networks since 2008, the Cyan Z77 introduces transformational scale while supporting well in excess of 100 Gbps of protected, full duplex, packet and TDM services per card slot and up to 2.8 Tbps per chassis.
Optimized for metro and regional aggregation, transit and hub deployments, the Cyan Z77 expands the functionality and scale of Z-Series systems to support non-blocking multi-layer cross-connect of packet, TDM, and wavelength services.
The Cyan Z77 supports the same service and capital efficient fixed or tunable wavelength modules as the Cyan Z33 and Cyan Z22 – plus an Ethernet and OTN cross-connect fabric supporting up to 2.8 Tbps. At just 13RU in height, the Cyan Z77 system combines massive capacity with modular functionality at a fraction of the cost of prior generation systems.
Multi-Function, Multi-Services
With industry leading support for packet and the transition of TDM to packet, the Cyan Z77 supports advanced packet switching and transport over connection oriented Ethernet, SONET/SDH, OTN, or wavelengths. Advanced Ethernet service modules provide options for aggregating 1GbE and 10GbE services into one or more fully loaded 10GbE or OTU2 transports. Various modules support options to deploy modules in pairs or in passive mesh configurations with up to 4 modules, without requiring the introduction of additional switch fabrics. As service densities scale, the Cyan Z77 platform supports an optional multi-technology switch fabric to provide non-blocking cross-connect switching and grooming across all 14 service and expansion slots for up to 2.8 Tbps of capacity.
Recognizing the continuing role of ATM and TDM in many networks, the Cyan Z77 also supports advanced SONET/SDH multi-service provisioning platform (MSPP) functionality on a blade. Each SONET/SDH service module supports high-density aggregation of OC-48/STM-16, OC-12/STM-4, OC-3/STM-1 and Ethernet over SONET/SDH into 10G OC-192/STM-64 or OTU2 transports.
Supporting fixed or tunable optics, the Cyan Z77 also provides massive optical scalability with DWDM terminal multiplexer and multi-degree wavelength selectable switching (WSS) ROADM modules delivering 4, 8 or 40 channels. All of Cyan's optical service modules are designed to support 100G wavelengths as well as 10G wavelengths for a smooth and cost-effective migration to future 100G services.
And of course, the Cyan Z77 is fully supported by Cyan's revolutionary Cyan 360 multi-layer software support systems to optimize network designs and services performance, streamline operations and simplify multi-layer management.
