Cyan Press Release
LYNX Chooses Cyan for Michigan Statewide Network
Project will bring high speed, low latency business class Ethernet and other services to Michigan
Cyan today announced that Lynx Network Group (LYNX), a Michigan-based telecommunications service provider, will use Cyan Z-Series packet-optical transport platforms (P-OTPs), Cyan 360 software and software-as-a-service (SaaS) suite, and Cyan PRO professional services to build a high-capacity statewide fiber network in Michigan. The network will be used by LYNX to deliver innovative, high speed Ethernet services to businesses, government facilities, cellular towers, and even to other carriers throughout Michigan but especially in the heretofore underserved northern Michigan markets.
According to Christopher J. Barber, co-owner at LYNX, “This state-of-the art network is capable of delivering the types of demanding services increasingly called for by business and wholesale customers, especially wireless operators. In addition to extremely high capacity Ethernet services, we’re able to satisfy the low latency requirements that are essential for competitive LTE backhaul offerings. These capabilities will allow us to deliver services to rural areas previously available only in more densely populated urban markets.”
LYNX will employ the Cyan Z-Series P-OTPs to deliver native Ethernet services at speeds up to 10 Gbps to office parks and other business locations. LYNX will also offer wholesale wavelength and layer-two services to service providers and wireless operators. Using CyPlan LYNX will be able to design networks and services with deterministic latency characteristics. Additionally, CyPortal will allow LYNX and its customers to examine individual service connections in real time in order to ensure capacity and latency requirements are being satisfied. Both CyPlan and CyPortal are components of Cyan 360.
A major consideration for LYNX is the ability of CyMS, Cyan’s multi-layer management system, to manage third-party devices. In this case CyMS will manage Ethernet NIDs supplied by Accedian, greatly improving overall operational efficiencies.
LYNX will also take advantage of CyNOC, a 24x7 network operations service offered by Cyan that leverages efficiencies inherent in Cyan 360 tools in order to cost effectively deliver reliable and trouble-free network operations. CyNOC is an element of the Cyan PRO suite of professional services.
“What is most compelling about this project is that it includes all of the pieces necessary to turn up next-gen Ethernet services,” said Cyan vice president of sales Eric Clelland. “By next-gen we mean Ethernet services that are more than simple layer two connections but instead are tightly engineered, service-level-aware, and customer-monitored network connections.”
