CyAlliance Program
Partnering with leading systems providers to deliver best-in-class, robust solutions for emerging applications and industry standards
Today’s services are more demanding than ever. Network traffic is scaling rapidly, service transport is shifting from TDM to packet, and service level agreements (SLAs) continue to raise the bar for performance and reliability. These are not equipment requirements, they are network requirements. That’s why Cyan created the CyAlliance program, providing ecosystem solutions assurance for the most demanding applications from a network perspective.
CyAlliance provides interoperability assurance through verification testing as well as a forum for vendor collaboration on advanced packet technologies and service considerations in multi-vendor environments. Recognizing the dynamic nature of systems and technology, CyAlliance also provides pre-defined escalation processes to facilitate rapid response and resolution when issues do arise.
While CyAlliance’s initial focus is aligned toward wireless backhaul, the program and its partners will expand to focus on a much broader range of evolving services and associated technologies.
CyAlliance Partners
Cyan partners with several industry leading systems vendors that provide market leading wireless backhaul solutions. CyAlliance partners include: Accedian Networks, DragonWave, Omnitron Systems Technology, Overture Networks, RAD Data Communications and Telco Systems. This combination of partner's access systems working in conjunction with Cyan’s Z-Series multi-layer transport platforms provide powerful transport solutions from the tower back to metro and regional mobile switching nodes and the internet via the full spectrum of transport media technologies.
- Fiber to the tower backhaul
- Bonded DSL and NxT1/E1 backhaul
- Microwave backhaul

Wireless Backhaul Solutions
Wireless backhaul providers are aggressively deploying fiber to the tower solutions. In these cases, CyAlliance partners offer a compelling range of fiber based native Ethernet, Ethernet over TDM and Ethernet plus TDM based backhaul systems. However, fiber is not available in every market. For these situations, CyAlliance partner systems provide the flexibility to exploit existing T1/E1 infrastructures as well as bonded DSL to enable a phased approach to higher capacities and Ethernet over copper transport. When copper and fiber are either insufficient or unattractive, microwave based CyAlliance systems provide further innovative options for scaling backhaul capacity.
Uplinks from these local access systems are then aggregated using one or more of Cyan’s multiple Z-Series’ service modules providing high performance Connection Oriented Ethernet (COE), SONET/SDH, OTN or wavelength transport services. The ability to mix and match service modules and scale transport capacity from one to 4, 8 or 40 10G wavelengths per fiber provides the scalability necessary to support metro and region-wide wireless backhaul services with plenty of capacity for metro Ethernet, IPTV, VOD, internet access, TDM and wavelength services.
Going beyond copper, fiber and microwave based technology options CyAlliance recognizes the industry trend toward native packet solutions. As wireless network infrastructures migrate to pure packet transport, special considerations must be given to network synchronization and performance. Cyan and CyAlliance partners recognize the importance of pure packet infrastructures and standards for maturing technologies such as Synchronous Ethernet and IEEE 1588v2. CyAlliance ecosystem partners will collaborate to provide best practices guidelines for multi-vendor implementations of these and other relevant industry standards.
