Cyan Powered Networks
Cyan PoweredTM networks represent market leading performance, functionality and operational efficiency. As a result, service providers have requested an easy way to let their customers and business partners recognize that their networks have been further enhanced to better meet their needs. This led to the creation of the Cyan PoweredTM logo which can be proudly displayed by as an indication of a Cyan Powered network and a commitment to serving their customers.
What is a Cyan Powered Network?
Service providers globally are under increasing pressure to expand service capacity and capabilities, while simultaneously reducing costs. As packet based services evolve they require higher levels of capacity and often increasingly strict levels of performance. Enterprise and wholesale customers demand higher capacity Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Carrier Ethernet services with stringent SLA performance, higher capacity SONET/SDH services, and Wavelength services. These expanding and evolving services often require upgrades and enhancements to existing network infrastructures. In addition, these enterprise and wholesale customers want premium service quality with highly competitive costs. Cyan's market leading Z-Series of multi-layer packet optical transport systems have quickly become recognized as the industry benchmark for metro and regional network performance, functionality and scale - with the lowest total cost of ownership. As a result, Cyan Powered networks or networks based upon Cyan's Z-Series platforms are recognized as a commitment to performance, functionality and cost-effectiveness.
What is the Cyan Powered Network Advantage?
Cyan's Z-Series are recognized as the industry's first, true purpose-built packet optical transport platforms. The packet-optical transport product category is a relatively new class of product which did not exist until very recently. In fact when Cyan was founded in 2006 the product revenue for this classification of equipment was $0. However, market analysts project that the equipment market for packet optical transport systems will exceed $3.9B in 2013, indicating a dramatic market shift to using packet-optical transport systems as the preferred way to scale and extend network capacity and functionality, with lower costs.
The packet-optical transport platform product category is defined as a single system which modularly enables the support for natively transporting packet, TDM and wavelength services with the option of supporting dense wave division multiplexing (DWDM) and reconfigurable optical add/drop multiplexer (ROADM) functions . In many cases, prior generation DWDM systems have been enhanced to support a modest level of Ethernet aggregation and transport, however true purpose built packet-optical transport systems provide the more robust functionality and scale of Ethernet transport switches with connection oriented Ethernet transport standards and Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) based services. Additionally, purpose-built packet optical transport systems support dramatically higher platform capacities, supporting backplane interconnect rates in excess of 100 Gigabits per second - per card slot, enabling an easy migratin to future 40G and 100G Ethernet based services. Of course these systems must also natively support aggregation and transport of SONET/SDH services, G.709 OTN services and DWDM/ROADM services. Last but not least, true purpose built packet-optical transport platforms must introduce highly advanced element and network management system capabilities to simplify the planning, implementation and ongoing operations of networks and devices which converge historically discrete network services and functions into highly integrated systems to improve the utilization of network resources and reduce operational expense.
Cyan's Z-Series is widely recognized as the industry's first true purpose-built packet-optical transport platforms. The highly integrated modular nature of Ethernet, SONET/SDH, OTN, DWDM and ROADM modules provide a level of integration and capacity expansion which leads the industry. The Cyan Z33 and Z77 multi-layer transport platforms represent the state of the art for scalability and density supporting well over 100 Gbps per card slot and hundreds of gigabits to terabits of non-blocking platform capacity. And of course, Cyan's CyMS multi-layer management system and associated web based planning resources provide revolutionary new capabilities to simplify the planning, implementation and operations of transport networks for increased efficiency with fundamentally lower costs. The resulting ability to cost effectively expand capacity, provision services and maximize network performance and uptime translates into superior services delivery, with lower costs - which ultimately represents the advantage of Cyan Powered networks!
