CyAssist Broadband Stimulus Program
Broadband Stimulus Highlights
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA) includes approximately $7.2B to be distributed in the form of grants and loans to facilitate broadband access. With over $500M of first round NOFA projects awarded, "middle-mile" has proven to be a strategic component of the awards. In addition, nearly $2.65B of the more than $4.7B second round NOFA is allocated explictly to middle-mile projects, and last-mile projects which include middle-mile. While many transport products exist to fulfill the basic requirements of middle-mile transport, only Cyan offers a revolutionary packet-optical transport solution that stretches your stimulus budget further, with modularity and multi-layer management capabilities to scale across your entire network.
Middle-Mile Recognized as a Key Requirement
The initial round of proposal submissions have been submitted for the first NOFA (notice of funds available) and a roll up of the data indicates that neary $28B in funding proposals were submitted for what is projected to be an approximate $2B round of actual funding. One of the most interesting attributes of the collective proposals is that nearly 1/3 of the requested funding ($9B) was for projects classified as middle-mile. This data illustrates that scaling network transport capacity in conjunction with broadband access is key to market and network success.
CyAssist Program
The CyAssist program was created to assist service providers in formulating strategies, creating network models, and creating proposal content to help secure stimulus funding in conjunction with Cyan’s transport solutions.
